In an attempt to bring its leadership closer to the workforce, a Bengaluru-based company has announced a novel organisational structure to eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy.

An email from the CEO’s office, forwarded by the Chief People Officer to the Senior Vice President, Vice President, Associate Vice President, General Manager, Deputy General Manager, Senior Manager, Manager, Assistant Manager, Team Leader and finally, employees, communicated the decision. Final approval will be given by a special committee that will meet next quarter.

The email, which created a buzz throughout the company, exhorted everyone to fearlessly challenge authority, after obtaining approval from their reporting managers.

The company also unveiled its new open-door policy, to everyone’s delight. Employees can now freely approach senior leadership directly. All they have to do is schedule an appointment through their department head and briefly explain why they need to approach senior leaders. The meeting will be arranged once they secure HR clearance.

These measures, the management said, are being taken to prevent any misuse of the open-door policy.

The CEO declared that this was an initiative to create a workplace where everyone’s voice matters equally. An anonymous employee feedback system has also been introduced to encourage employees to share their views and concerns after entering their employee ID.
